Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

When you create an account we collect your email address and a hashed password. If you sign in via Google we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google's OAuth service.

When you use the editor we store the project script you write and any media files you upload (screen recordings, images, audio). These are stored on AWS S3 in your account and are not shared with anyone.

When you record with the Chrome extension we collect the following data solely to generate your video project:

• Tab video and audio - we capture the video stream of the tab you choose to record. If you enable "Record Audio", tab audio and (optionally) your microphone audio are mixed into the recording. Audio is never captured without you explicitly enabling this option.
• Click and interaction events - we capture clicks, scrolls, typed text (excluding password fields), text selections, and focus events on the recorded tab. These are used to generate scene timecodes and narration in the project.
• Screenshots - we take periodic screenshots of the recorded tab (on page navigations and annotations) to aid scene generation.
• Page URLs and titles - we record the URLs and page titles of pages visited during the recording session to split the recording into scenes at navigation boundaries.
• Click effects on other tabs - if you switch tabs while recording, we inject a lightweight script into those tabs solely to render visual click effects on screen. No data is captured from tabs you switch to; only the recorded tab's events are sent to our servers.
• Anonymous error reports - if the extension encounters an unexpected error, it sends an anonymous report to our servers containing the error message and stack trace from the extension's own code. These reports contain no page content, URLs, or personal data and are used solely to diagnose and fix bugs.

All recording data (video, events, screenshots) is uploaded to our servers solely to generate your project. We do not analyse, share, or retain it beyond that purpose. Raw event data is deleted once the project has been generated.

We collect standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited) for security and debugging. These are retained for 30 days.

2. How we use your data

We use your email to send transactional messages: account verification, password reset, and (if you opt in) product updates. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not show ads.

Rendered video files are stored on S3 and accessible via a private URL. They are not indexed or made publicly discoverable by SlickVid.

3. Third-party services

We use the following sub-processors to operate the service:

• Amazon Web Services - file storage (S3), video rendering (Lambda), transactional email (SES)
• Google - optional OAuth sign-in
• Pusher - real-time render progress notifications
• Stripe - payment processing for Pro subscriptions; we never see or store your card number

Each provider processes data under their own privacy policies and data processing agreements with us.

4. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. No tracking or advertising cookies are set. The theme preference (dark/light) is stored in localStorage, not a cookie.

5. Data retention and deletion

Your projects, uploaded media, and account data are retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual projects at any time from the editor. To delete your account and all associated data, email us from your registered address at our contact page with the subject "Delete my account". We will action it within 5 business days.

6. Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. All traffic is served over HTTPS. S3 assets are accessed via signed URLs. We do not store payment card details.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, use our contact page.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
